One Semirara, One ALS Celebrates 3RD Graduation and Completion Rites With Theme “Henerasyon ng Pagkakaisa: Kaagapay Sa Bagong Pilipinas”

SEMIRARA ISLAND — The third Graduation and Completion Rites of One Semirara, One ALS took place on July 28, 2025, at the SMPC Foodcourt, gathering a total of 64 ALS learners from both the Elementary and Junior High School levels. The event, themed “Henerasyon ng Pagkakaisa: Kaagapay sa Bagong Pilipinas,” aimed to celebrate the learners’ achievements and emphasize unity in building a brighter future for Semirara.

The ceremony commenced with a Baccalaureate Mass officiated by Fr. Lawrence G. Llona, SVD-DWSSII School Director, and concelebrated by Fr. Eliseo L. Yyance, DWSSII Campus Minister. The homily, centered around the gospel of the mustard seed, highlighted faith and perseverance as foundational to growth and success.

Attended by distinguished guests, including local government officials from Barangays Alegria, Semirara, and Tinogboc, as well as officials from Semirara Mining and Power Corporation (SMPC), DWSSII personnel, and TEP coordinators from Divine Word College of San Jose - Mindoro, the event recognized the dedication of both students and educators. Mrs. Grace A. Arguelles, DWSSII School Principal, officially confirmed the graduates and completers.

Participants included 3 male elementary graduates from DWSSII-AJCMFI and 26 Junior High School completers—19 males and 7 females—while Semirara ALS Learning Center produced 6 elementary graduates (5 males, 1 female) and 28 Junior High School completers (16 males, 12 females).

The ceremony was inspired by the success story of Mrs. Gelmie Orpilla, a proud graduate of Semirara ALS, whose journey exemplifies perseverance and hope. The event was further enriched by messages from Mr. Creslito D. Bangalao, SMPC Admin. Division Manager, and Hon. Catherine G. Lim of BLGU Semirara, represented by Hon. Jimmy Aranda. Hon. Romeo Malixi of BLGU Tinogboc and Hon. Joie E. Ebon of BLGU Alegria duly represented by Hon. Antonio B. Reyes also conveyed their support and congratulations.

As the learners received their certificates, the community reaffirmed its commitment to fostering unity and continuous support for education, paving the way for a stronger, more resilient Semirara island. #ALS #ajcmfi #graduation
